Pat FlahertyGreen shamrock helmet · Indianapolis 500

The story

Flaherty won the 1956 Indianapolis 500 for the John Zink team with a green shamrock on his helmet, defying the long-standing Indy superstition against the colour green; he was the last winner to race in a T-shirt.
