Privacy policy

Helmet Archive is an independent fan project run from Malta. We collect as little as possible. This page explains what is stored and why. Last updated 12 October 2026.

No analytics or advertising trackers

We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which sets no cookies and does not identify or follow you across sites. The site keeps two small settings in your browser: one so the opening animation plays only once per visit, and, if you vote, a random ID that stops the same browser voting twice in a poll.

Fan votes

Each browser gets one vote per poll. When you vote, your browser creates a random ID that is not linked to you. We store a hashed copy of it with your vote, plus a hashed copy of your IP address so one connection cannot cast more than ten votes in a poll. Both hashes use a secret key and cannot be turned back into the original ID or address. They are deleted after 30 days; only the vote totals are kept.

Newsletter

If you sign up, we store your email address and the date you agreed, only to send the Helmet Archive newsletter. We keep it until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. We do not sell or share it.

Submissions

When you submit a helmet or report a mistake, we store what you send (and your email, if you choose to give it) for up to 180 days so we can check it.

Embedded posts and links

Helmet pages can show the official Instagram post or X post for a helmet. The post is loaded from Instagram (Meta) or X, which may set their own cookies and collect data under their own policies. Affiliate links to Amazon and eBay take you to those sites, which may record that you arrived from Helmet Archive so we can earn a commission.

Hosting

The site is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes technical request data (such as IP addresses) to deliver and protect the site.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask to see, correct or delete data about you, or withdraw consent at any time. Use the contact form and choose "A mistake on a page", or reply to any newsletter, and we will act within 30 days. You can also complain to the Information and Data Protection Commissioner in Malta.
