Helmet gifts for motorsport fans

A helmet is the most personal thing a driver wears, which makes it the easiest gift to get right: pick the fan's driver, then the budget. Every option below is an official product or a search for one, and the archive tells you which race design you are buying.

LEGO F1 helmets (about $90)

Brick-built driver helmets from LEGO's Editions range, with a stand and a minifigure, for ages 14 and up: Charles Leclerc (43014), Lewis Hamilton (43022), Oscar Piastri (43017), Lando Norris (43023) and Ayrton Senna (43024). Each lists at $89.99, €89.99 or £79.99. Genuine sets carry the LEGO set number and the team branding.

1:5 mini helmets (from about £40)

Spark makes small resin display helmets in a clear case, about 8 cm across, of specific race designs, so you can give the exact helmet from the fan's favourite weekend. Look for the Spark part number (5HF…); unbranded "inspired" resin helmets are not official.

1:2 half-scale replicas ($170–210)

Half-scale replicas are made by the helmet makers themselves: Bell's are licensed by the teams and built in the same factory as the race helmet, with a fibre-reinforced shell, a fixed visor and a collector's box. Max Verstappen's are made by Schuberth and sold through his own store. Buy from the team store, the driver's store or an established dealer, and check for the maker's name and the team licence.

Full-size display replicas (thousands)

Team stores sell full-size display replicas made by the drivers' helmet makers, with a display case and a certificate of authenticity. A full-size "replica" for a few hundred dollars with no maker named is not official.

Signed and race-worn helmets

For the collector who has everything: signed replicas, numbered editions and race-used helmets. The signed helmets page shows what is on sale right now for each driver, with a checklist for certificates and provenance.

Pick the design first

Most drivers race several designs a year. Start from the driver's archive page, pick the race, and every helmet page shows the replicas and listings for that exact design.

Questions

What is a good helmet gift for an F1 fan under 100 dollars?

The official LEGO Editions driver helmets (Leclerc, Hamilton, Piastri, Norris, Senna) list at $89.99, €89.99 or £79.99, and Spark 1:5 mini helmets of a specific race design cost about £40 to £65.

Which helmet replicas are official?

Official replicas name their maker: LEGO, Spark (1:5), Bell and Schuberth (1:2 half-scale, licensed by the teams), Minichamps (1:8 and 1:10) and the helmet makers themselves for full-size display replicas. Listings that say "inspired" or "style" and name no maker are not official.

Can I buy the exact helmet from a specific race?

Often, yes: Spark and Bell release many race-weekend specials, and the archive’s helmet pages link to replicas and live listings for that exact design. Start from the driver’s page and pick the race.
